G4 Tequila 5 Year Extra Anejo - Nom 1579 in Jalisco is home to some amazing tequilas crafted by Felipe Camarena (such as Terralta). G4, which represents the 4th generation of their family of distillers, is new to the US market, but has already been making waves based on reputation. Tahona crushed agave is roasted in brick ovens, two details that elevate Camarena’s tequilas a step above many brands in this price range. Fermentation is open vat, using natural yeasts and copper pot distilled. Aged for at least five years in American oak, hints of vanilla and burnt sugar compliment the agave, but don’t overwhelm the spirit.
